If Only Wishful Thinking Could Come True
Sorry for the lack of updates. I've been busy. =) Olympics So let's start back to the Friday of the 8th, the day of the Olympics Opening Ceremony. A few of us went over to Shanice's place for steamboat dinner (mmm yum yum) before we watched the opening ceremony together. Late as this is, did you guys see the drum-countdown? Omg it was just crazy, mind-blowingly, OMG-ly amazing!!! I think all of us were just blown away at the ingeniousity and coordination of everything. I especially loved that the top part were chinese characters of the number and that all the numbers moved! Loved the footsteps fireworks towards the stadium too. Hahah. We were all trying to figure out what shape it was, such as "Is it the shape of China?" until I finally realised and burst out, "OHHH it's a footstep!!!" and there was a chorus of "OHHH" as revelation set in all around. I was delighted today to learn that Kristen Schaal (the actress who plays Gertha Teeth in the Cirque Du Freak movie) and her comedy partner Kurt Braunohler have been nominated for the if.comedy award in Edinburgh this year!! The if award (previously known as the Perrier award) is the best known award for comedy in the UK, and very few acts ever get shortlisted. Kristen and Kurt are one of 4 acts to be nominated this year, the others being David O'Doherty, Russell Kane and Rhod Gilbert. I've seen them all except for Rhod Gilbert, and I think she stands a good chance, though you can never tell with things like this. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for her!! I received a very nice email from a teacher called Debbie last week, which I came across again today while going through my mail folder: I wanted to let you know how much your Cirque Du Freak books mean to me and my students. Pulang dari penang kali ni, banyak cerita yang ingin dibagi-bagikan. Mungkin karena pengalaman ini adalah pengalaman pertama kali kami (nisa dan bunda). Berawal dari kekurangan uang karena berobat kali ni harus check seluruh badan jadi uang ringgit yang kami bawa juga pas2an aja. Kalo dulu-dulu bisa ambil uang di atm Maybank, tapi ga tau napa saat itu kami ga bisa ambil uang, wrong pin. Padahal ga mungkin wrong pin!! Untung aja ada uang rupiah yang cukup untuk bayar uang penginapan dan ongkos ke airport, tapi ga jadi shopping dong. Padahal masih da waktu untuk shopping, tapi karena hana peng (artinya :g da uang) ga jadi deh. Pengalaman yang kedua, yaitu saat nunggu pesawat pulang di airport (ya iya lah di aiport, masa di terminal?!). Jam 9 pagi kami berangkat menuju airport, sampe sana sekitar jam stgh 10 lewat. Trus check-in dan nunggu dengan tenang di ruang tunggu sampai akhirnya da pengumuman pesawat LION air ditunda keberangkatannya karena ada masalah teknis sampai waktu yang... (more)
